As a mother, you will spend the day seeing your son marry the woman of his dreams. Watching your son so happy and in love will be an unforgettable moment. Then at the reception, you will get the chance to share in his happiness with the mother son dance.

Our job is to help make your mother son dance lessons a great experience. We start out by getting to know how you want the dance to be. Something simple, something with a few extra twists and turns, or a full-blown choreography. If you have a song, then we can show you your options for how the dance can look. If you haven’t found a song, then we can give you a few recommendations.

Once we have your song and we know your vision, we will start putting together a sequence of steps. Next, we show you the entire dance so you can approve the look of it before we start teaching it to you. Then, the “extra” quality time begins as we teach you your own personalized mother son dance.

Dance Tips

As the wedding day draws near, your schedule usually gets more hectic. We recommend starting the dance at least 3 to 6 months before. That way you have plenty of time to put your dance together without the stress of a deadline. Even if the wedding is around the corner, don’t worry. We will work with whatever time you have and make sure you have a nice dance.
On our first lesson, we will start teaching you to the song that you have chosen. If you don’t have one, check out our Spotify Playlist to see if there are any songs you like. If you don’t find one, then we can give you a few more recommendations.
Dancing is a tradition at weddings. Most people think that they need to dance to the entire song that they have chosen. But being out there for 4 minutes, swaying back and forth can feel like an eternity and you just want it to be done. We recommend dancing 1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes. It is long enough to do something nice and memorable, and short enough so it doesn’t leave anyone bored or you stressed.
When learning a new skill, it is best to let your teacher do the instructing. They will see what is happening and can give you best tips/advice on how to improve your dancing. If you have any questions, ask your instructor. That way you both will enjoy the learning experience.
It is a popular saying, “Practice like you play.” We recommend to wear shoes similar to the ones you will wear during your dance. This is important because you will learn what it feels like and how your balance is. Also, your instructor may request you wear your actual shoes for the wedding. This will leave no surprises on the day when it comes to your shoes.
Consistency is the key when learning any new skill. When you keep lessons close together, you will spend less time reviewing material from the previous lesson, and more time adding new moves or perfecting the ones you know.
At some point, your instructor will ask you the size of the dance floor and the layout of the room. This will help them prepare you where to walk on the floor and how to move around in a way the looks the most natura.
